CMAG respects and celebrates the continuing Ngunnawal culture and the rich contribution that Ngunnawal people, and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, bring to our community and to our understanding of the country that surrounds and nurtures us.
CMAG serves a unique role as a place to experience the diverse history and contemporary culture of the Canberra region; and through this to gain a deeper understanding of Australia’s dynamic culture in its global setting.
CMAG manages The Nolan Collection on behalf of the Australian Government.
Canberra Museum and Gallery is located on the corner of London Circuit and Civic Square, Canberra City.
Most exhibitions are free, though charges may apply for some temporary exhibitions.

The Culture Loop is a free shuttle bus service with stops at at Canberra Museum and Gallery, Canberra Centre, National Museum of Australia, National Film and Sound Archive, Regatta Point, National Library of Australia, Questacon, Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, Australian Parliament House and West Basin.
Board at any of the conveniently located stops to enjoy the free shuttle service 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. Access via public transpost or park once and ride the shuttle to your favourite venues and experience an array of exhibitions, galleries, collections, stories and events.
The City bus interchange is located 200m walk from CMAG on East Row, and many routes also stop along London Circuit. Details of bus services can be found on the ACTION website, or by phoning 13 17 10.
Capital works projects in the vicinity of CMAG will impact visitor car parking from Mid December 2017.
If you are travelling to CMAG by car please plan ahead to avoid inconvenience.

We are always ready to do our best to assist visitors with special needs. We are fully wheelchair accessible, and have a range of seating options available during floor talks and other public programs. A wheelchair is also available for patron use. Our cafe also caters for a range of dietary requirements.

On arrival please leave backpacks, large or bulky items in the cloakroom at the reception desk. Bulky items can cause accidental damage to artworks.

The CMAG Cafe is open Mon to Fri, 8.30am–3.00pm. Come in and enjoy a coffee, pastry or a hot toastie and browse the web with our free wifi.
