Nicci Haynes’ installations offer alternative modes of viewing that are designed to disrupt expectations of conventional cinema. Haynes films are typically brief, fragmentary, and without traditional narrative structure. As Haynes began collecting screens from roadsides and e-waste bins for this exhibition, the imagery Haynes imagined shifted.
“Instead of the content I had originally intended, a visual language of broken, degraded signals emerged—developing in tandem with the growing pile of obsolete devices. The focus turned toward waste, impermanence, and randomness—both in form and in content. RGB_.v2 is the latest version: an experiment in multi-screen disarray.”
Nicci Haynes is a visual artist based in Canberra, a graduate of the ANU with a twenty-year exhibiting history and a practice spanning print, drawing, performance, installation and experimental film.
