The story of Australia's Home Front during World War II (1939-1945) is an important one: from 'make do and mend' to purchasing war bonds, from national innovation to women's auxiliary work, those who continued to live and work in Australia during the war played their part.
Marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the conflict, this exhibition presents some of the fascinating stories associated with this period in Canberra, and across Australia, through objects collected by Canberra historian, Rohan Goyne.
From a 500-object collection, themes such as civil defence, recognition and wartime information will be explored, including the story of the role Canberra played in the Manhattan Project!
