It’s not every day that you get to celebrate 50 years on the airwaves but that’s exactly what 2XX is doing at CMAG.

This exhibition tells fascinating stories of the community-grown station whose humble beginnings arose as Radio ANU in two small rooms at the Australian National University Drill Hall in 1971. Making it official with a broadcasting licence, in 1976 the station was officially launched as, Canberra’s beloved, 2XX.

With such a strong presence in our capital, listen to some of the hard-hitting, emotional, passionate, fun, and musically lyrical snippets from programmes that have broadcast across the 50 years from LGBTIQA+ protests to rock bands, Aboriginal leaders to women's rights collectives, and multicultural legends to art lovers.

Learn about the events, ideas and topics that mattered to Canberrans across the decades, see memorabilia associated with the station, a recreation radio studio of the 1970s and ’80s, and admire the original Canberra artist-designed posters from Megalo Print Studio.
