Richard Osman's series of novels follows the residents of a retirement centre as they solve cold case murders (and tangle with current-day villains). These books have achieved remarkable success. Do their representations of aging ring true? Do the characters spark recognition, offer new ways to consider one’s own aging, or is something else going on? We will meet in a book club environment to talk through the first novel, The Thursday Murder Club (2020), and our own responses to that story.
Author, academic and critic Jen Webb will facilitate the conversation, with novelist/academic Tony Eaton, poet/editor Anita Patel, and members of the audience.
