The Art of Giving: Works from the Meredith Hinchliffe Fund

The Art of Giving: Works from the Meredith Hinchliffe Fund

Meredith Hinchliffe is one of Canberra Museum and Gallery’s longest standing donors. Through her annual financial gift, CMAG has been able to acquire significant works by designers, artists and craftspeople of the Canberra region.

This selection, purchased with the Meredith Hinchliffe Fund, features some highlights of the CMAG Collection as well as some of the most recent acquisitions. These include an extraordinary blown glass didjeridu by Paul House with Tom Rowney, made at Canberra Glassworks. Also, a large soda fired vessel and a hooked rug by Gail Nichols who lives outside Braidwood looking towards the Budawang National Park. For both artists, their works reflect deeply understood responses to place.
