Presented in collaboration with the 2026 Canberra Art Biennale

First presented at Sydney Contemporary in 2019, Gregory Hodge’s Suspension Painting marked the artist’s first monumental exploration of immersive suspended painting and sculpture. The multidimensional painted sculpture work will occupy CMAG’s Gallery on Civic Square as part of the 2026 Canberra Art Biennale.

Gregory Hodge studied painting at Canberra School of Art at the Australian National University Canberra School of Art, completing his PhD in 2016. He has been intrigued by the visual flourish of the Baroque which was deepened by residencies at The British School at Rome (2015); and Basso Berlin (2011). After completing international residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris (2019-2020 and 2024 he has continued to live and work in Paris
