An exhibition for children and families in the Nolan Gallery
Many types of birds have nested in the art of Sidney Nolan.
There have been improbable flightless birds, strange avian amalgamations, some cheeky and whimsical, some stern and brooding.
Sidney Nolan may have seen something of himself in their characters.
Some dart quickly across the sky, in command of what lies below and quick to grasp an opportunity. Others peck and prod, carefully searching for what might lie out of sight. Some very bold birds declare themselves with brilliant plumage in ways that we cannot forget.
