This year is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Canberra Spinners & Weavers organisation, and in celebration there will be two exhibitions of their work, one at CMAG, which will include textiles gathered from many private and public collections spanning many years of practice: rugs and wall hangings, silk shawls to samplers, and placemats to ponchos.
A sister exhibition at Tuggeranong Arts Centre features contemporary work of Canberra Spinners and Weavers members from 2 – 25 November.
Supported by ArtsACT funding.
Exhibition curator Meredith Hinchliffe will spin a yarn about the history of the Canberra Spinners and Weavers organisation.
Join us for an afternoon of hands on, creative workshops, led by local textile artist Ruby Berry
