Angels walk the streets of Berlin and bear witness to humanity. The film follows two angels Damiel (Bruno Ganz) and Cassiel (Otto Sander) and three people they watch: Marion (Solveig Dommartin) a French trapeze artist, Homer (Curt Bois) an octogenarian poet, and Peter Falk as himself (sort of). Aided by Nobel Prize winning writer Peter Handke and legendary French cinematographer Henri Alekan, Wim Wenders produced an arthouse film that won an award for Best Director at Cannes and was a critical and financial success. The film also features two performances from Australian band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds who were living in Berlin at the time.
