This warm, funny film is probably the best-known work of the late Australian director, Shirley Barrett (1961- 2022). It follows the exploits of two decidedly strange young sisters in the sleepy Murray River town of Sunray. Dimity works in the local Chinese restaurant, while Vicki-Ann is a romantically minded hairdresser. When a new disc-jockey comes to town to join the radio station, they both take a fancy to him and set about attracting his attention. Unfortunately, his character is decidedly seedy. The result: conflict, misunderstanding, some great music and plenty of laughs. Introduced by film historian, Marilyn Dooley.
