Canberra Museum and Gallery sits at the heart of one of the most intact and architecturally significant mid-century precincts in Australia.

Led by Senior Curator Virginia Rigney, we begin the tour looking at our new exhibition Canberra / Kamberri, Place & People, then explore the precinct to see how it was conceived to connect business, retail, community and leisure facilities within easy walking distance.

Who knew that Canberra had the first large indoor shopping mall or the earliest integrated cultural precinct in Australia? Explore the meaning behind some of the key public art works that were commissioned to anchor the identity of the city just at the start of its major burst of growth.

BYO hat, sunscreen, water bottle, comfortable shoes and meet in the CMAG foyer. The CMAG Café will be open from 12-4pm.
