Curator, Social History
Sharon Bulkeley is Curator of Social History, having returned to CMAG in a permanent capacity in early 2018. As a born and bred Canberran she has a strong affection for the region, its people and its stories. Her role at CMAG includes curating exhibitions, acquiring new objects that build on CMAG’s impressive collection, researching and writing about the collection and Canberra’s history, and working with the local community.
Sharon has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Cultural Heritage Management) from the University of Canberra and a First Class Honours degree in History from the University of Sydney. She has worked in the cultural industry since 2001 as a curator, content producer and heritage assessor across a range of institutions including the National Museum of Australia, Australian War Memorial, Old Parliament House (MoAD), National Capital Authority and Canberra Museum and Gallery, as well as in private industry.
